Improving Latency at the Network Edge

  • Tuesday, 04/04/2017: 1:15 PM - 2:15 PM
  • Room: 511A
  • Session Number:  CE12:

The rise of colocation and cloud services is growing at approximately 10% per year, with cloud growth rates more than double that number, as the digitization of the world expands the global need for IT compute and storage capacity. Major metropolitan areas are shifting toward fewer but larger data centers. However, transport networks around these central colocation and cloud service data centers are getting extremely congested during peak usage time. This is due to the increasing demand of consumer facing applications like Netflix, Pokémon Go and the Internet of Things (IoT). Faster speed at the network edge is a must.

Learning Objectives

1- gain understanding of the network edge
2- gain an understanding of the challenges and risks of big data and the impact on business
3 - Gain insight into alternative architectures to meet the increased demands
