The Race to Bare Metal

  • Monday, 04/03/2017: 2:15 PM - 3:15 PM
  • Room: 501A
  • Session Number:  IT6:

Description

The need to make infrastructure more portable and distributed in an effective and repeatable way required a new approach. Research shows that running infrastructures on bare-metal environments can deliver better price and performance benefits, especially when compared with virtualized servers, and provide the flexibility needed to modernize any existing infrastructure system. But it's not without its flaws. Installing, configuring and managing bare metal can be time consuming and there is no one-size-fits-all solution.

Learning Objectives

During this presentation audiences will learn not only how and why building on bare metal is the right approach for flexibility and cost-savings, but also how to overcome some of the challenges it presents and what they can expect from this trend in the future.
