The Best of Both Worlds: Ensuring a Secure Hybrid Cloud via Direct Network Connectivity

  • Monday, 04/03/2017: 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM
  • Room: 501A
  • Session Number:  IT5:

When it comes to the cloud, many companies opt for a combination of on-premise architecture, managed services and IaaS. This hybrid approach enables them to leverage existing infrastructure and maintain control of sensitive data in-house, while also efficiently expanding computing capacity and achieving scale as well as cost savings. Securing a hybrid cloud, however, presents some challenges. Specifically, maintaining data security and compliance with certain mandates when connecting on-premise infrastructure with that of a third-party cloud and / or managed services provider. This presentation will illustrate how to get the best of both worlds: on-premise infrastructure and secure, compliant private cloud and managed services cost-effectively, securely and easily, without ever touching the public Internet. Attendees will learn how to leverage interconnection fabrics and direct network connectivity to CSPs and MSPs to securely expand their ecosystem and future-proof their businesses.

Learning Objectives

- Assess current cloud migration strategy and identify non-mission- critical aspects of the IT environment to source to third-party managed services or cloud providers
- Evaluate cloud and managed services providers as well as data center facilities based on the right criteria, including secure network connections and infrastructure as well as HIPAA compliance and the ability to sign BAAs
- Compare various interconnection fabrics to ensure they meet regulatory and business requirements
