Data Center Cooling Efficiency: Understanding the Science of the 4 Delta T's

  • Wednesday, 04/05/2017: 10:45 AM - 11:45 AM
  • Room: 502A
  • Session Number:  DCDM10:

Description

While the term Delta T may be commonly used in the industry, there is much misunderstanding about where and why temperatures are changing in computer rooms. While two ΔT’s are commonly known, there are actually four different ΔT’s which directly relate to the health of the data center. Understanding the sources of these differences and measuring them in your site provides insight about how to further improve the (operating costs) efficiency and capacity of computer room cooling.

Learning Objectives

1. Attendees will learn about the 4 delta T's present in data center cooling. While 2 of them are well known, the other 2 are not, but just as important.
2. Attendees will also learn how different cooling strategies and airflow management best practices impact each delta T.
3. Finally, attendees will learn how to address each delta T and what benchmarks they should strive for each one, and how to achieve those benchmarks.
