Impacts of Data Centers Physical Protection - Survivability Vs. Sustainability

  • Tuesday, 04/04/2017: 10:45 AM - 11:45 AM
  • Room: 502A
  • Session Number:  DCDM7:

Description

Data centers encapsulate the most valuable assets of a modern organization. Many newly constructed or planned critical facilities combine a physically protected building with a high tier objective. Cooling systems as well as generators require massive airflow in order to transfer the heat to the environment. This contradicts with the requirements regarding endurance to blast impacts that might affect equipment. In the case of tier IV where compartmentalization and multiple active components are mandatory, the implication is magnified. The presentation will cover protected data center topologies analyzing the impact on tier levels, PUE, Capex & Opex as well as cost distribution between facility, electromechanical systems and protection elements.
